9^th September 1916 – wounded near Fromelles

17^th November 1916 – awarded Iron Cross 2^nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2.Klasse)

Kgl. Bayerisches 11. Infanterie-Regiment von der Tann (9 Bav.Bde, 16 Bav Division) - 18^th June’17 – July’18

Served in Ypres Salient, Dutch border, Artois, Hindenberg Line, Somme , Flanders. Major battles – 3^rd Ypres, Cambrai, Kaiserschlacht, Somme, Lys.

9^th July 1917 – Awarded Bavarian Military Merit Order 4^th Class (Militär-Verdienstorden 4.Klasse)

21^st May 1918 – Awarded Iron Cross 1^st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1.Klasse)

Death:

Killed whilst serving with the BIR 11 on 28^th July 1918 (Dranoutre sector) at 3:45am by a rifle grenade fragment to the left temple. Originally buried at the Militärfriedhof Wervick. Now buried in the deutsche Soldatenfriedhof at Menen ( Block G, Grave 1568).
