Accrington cemetery
Accrington cemetery, at Hillock Vale,on the Burnley Road contains 97 CWGC wargraves, 52 of which date from 1914-21. 8 men of the famous "Accrington Pals" are buried here, 5 of whom died from wounds sustained on 1st July 1916. This page just concentrates on these men, but other graves are to be found on the next page.

24758 Pte.Percy Thomas Hacking of Avenue Parade, Accrington. Died 22nd Sept 1916
A 'replacement Pal' who enlisted in January 1916, Percy didn't actually succumb to wounds received on 1st July 1916 (he died in a Southern Hospital from injuries sustained in action on 19th Aug 1916), but, as he's one (of the two) soldiers of the battalion who have no headstone of any description (and will, therefore get no mention on the next page) I thought it only fair to list him here.
