Campaign Medals of
Germany
Although German
states issued their own commemorative medals for WW1 service, only one
"National" award was issued. This was the "Honour Cross of the World War"
instituted in 1934 by von Hindenburg (giving it's nick-name of the "Hindenburg
Cross"). It was the first award issued by the III Reich.
